Is it over yet?

Ahh, Christmas. That time of year when I’m forced to socialize with (and host) large groups of people… in my home… that won’t leave at an acceptable time. There’s the obligatory gift-giving, the forced smile to hide my reclusive disdain, and the cleanup that follows the conclusion of the Southern Goodbye — you know, when someone starts to leave and says their goodbyes… and then actually leaves an hour later.

But my favorite part of the holidays? When they’re over. Because people. Don’t get me wrong. I like people… well enough. Just not in large groups… or in my home.

I know, I know. I’m being a Grinch. But Christmas just isn’t the same as an adult. The kids made out like bandits with all the cool toys and electronics. Me? Well, ‘ol Chris Kringle gifted me a ‘Check Engine’ light, a cracked tooth, and a clogged condensate drain that caused water to back up into the house.

I’d like to kick Jolly St. Nick right in his jingle bells.

Alright, enough grumbling. It wasn’t that bad. I did get an Atari console with a TON of games, along with a miniature Gameboy. I got a cool knight pen holder for my desk… okay, that one was a gift to myself… and I named him Sir Writes-a-Lot.

Also, last night I got a photo of the Cold Moon — the last full moon of the year. That completes my goal of photographing every full moon since getting my telescope last Christmas.

That’s it for the time being. I’m putting vibes out to the universe for great things to happen in ’24 — more money, more energy, more comic cons. But for now, I just want a nap.

With that, I leave you with a smattering of cuteness with the Fluffertons.

Until next time, ‘ver heil ok sæl’.
